In order to efficiently respond to requests and manage the employment of off-duty deputy’s, The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Off Duty Management to provide services related to hiring off-duty deputy’s effective March 07,2022.

You may request to hire off-duty deputies through the Off Duty Management web-based service, OfficerTRAK®, calling 602-675-5261 or the toll-free number below.

Off Duty Management provides the following to the vendor:

• Online access to information through the OfficerTRAK® software including:
  • Job-status
  • Deputy attendance
  • Field notes and media files
  • Post orders and instructions
  • Past and future shift information
• Full liability coverage for the vendor, the agency, and the deputy
• 24/7 vendor service
• Dedicated point of contact for scheduling and invoicing
• Deputy payroll

Prohibited Off-Duty Employment*: Employees shall not engage in off-duty employment that involves any of the following:

A. The service of civil process papers.

B. Domestic difficulties in which the employee is expected to act on behalf of one of the parties involved.

C. A labor or civil dispute, or a political or ideological controversy. This does not apply to Office volunteers being employed by an entity on a full-time or a part-time basis, so long as they do not use their affiliation with the Office to further the aims of a position they endorse or support.

D. Employment where the sale of intoxicating beverages is the principal business, unless the work permit is approved by the division commander, or a business which would bring discredit to the Office, such as adult bookstores, massage parlors, or pool halls.

E. Employment in a private detective agency or private investigation work of any kind.

F. Employment in a peace officer capacity outside of Maricopa County, unless approval has been obtained from the employee’s bureau commander.

• 1 Deputy per 100 estimated event attendees is the basic guideline for staffing a security detail.  Required staffing may be decreased or increased by MCSO based upon the event details, threat assessment, attendance, or types of services requested by the vendor.       

Supervisor Rates:

1 Supervisor (Sergeant or Higher) required for 4 Deputies at a single event.

Example:  for every 400 people estimated to attend there must be (1) Supervisor and (4) Deputies

(1)  Commander (Lieutenant or Higher) required for every (3) Supervisors employed at a single event

*Emergency Rates:

Apply when a request is made within 48 hours of the start of the request

**Holiday Rates:

Will apply on these days, New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day

Cancellation policy: Off-duty employment which is cancelled by the outside employer within 24 hours of the start time will result in the outside employer being billed for an amount equal to 3 hours of pay. The collected amount payable to the MCSO employee scheduled to work the cancelled off-duty employment plus ODM administrative fees for the first 24 hours of the original assignment.
